Pennsylvania Wedding Hair and Makeup Artist
In 2015 I moved to Savannah, GA. There, I started my journey as a full-time, freelance hair and makeup artist. Fast forward to April of 2020 when the world was flipped upside down. The Covid shutdown canceled my entire year of bookings. It made sense for me to come back home to PA and see what would happen.
I wasn't able to begin solidifying bookings until Spring of 2021.
Networking is a big deal in this industry, but meeting vendors in person was rather difficult given the situation at the time. Instead of driving to venues, bridal shops, and florists to introduce myself, I sent out an introduction letter. Yep, old-fashioned ink, paper, and snail-mail. Of the 50 plus letters I sent, I received feedback from more than half. I call that a massive win!
This lead to being invited to a wedding expo at Maple Ridge Farm in Troy, PA.
There I met the lovely owner of Savvy Rose Floral Design. They invited me to be the hair and makeup artist for a styled shoot in Wellsboro, PA. There I also met Kay Renee & Co..
That is where it all started!
Meeting people in the industry and finding those I vibe with is one of my favorite aspects of this business. Working with these ladies lead to so many more connections that I still cherish today. I was even lucky enough to do Kay’s hair and makeup for her wedding. It was a lovely full-circle moment!
When starting a business from scratch, or moving a business 800 plus miles away, networking and finding the right people is key. Sometimes we need to be resourceful in our approach, but the outcome will always be the same: Special connections made with like-minded people who want to see you thrive!
With Weddings, Photoshoots, Trials, and Special Occasions I finished 2021 with 58 bookings and over 130 services. Keep in mind, I couldn’t start working full time until July and I was completely new to the area. That is a massive accomplishment that I am extremely proud of!
I’m looking forward to all the changes 2022 will bring. There is plenty in the works and going on behind the scenes here!
