Small Business Goal Setting

Recently I was introduced to Derick Grant’s Social Media Page (Instagram @dgmindset). I came across a video about setting goals. The takeaway from his video is; when setting a goal, be sure it’s derived from inspiration, not desperation.

That concept got my wheels turning!!

What does it mean to have goals that are created from desperation? Here are some personal examples:

  • Driven by making money.

  • To prove my worth.

  • To create quick change.

  • To prove I’m successful.

These ideas/goals interfere with the purpose of my business and love for this work. While good intentions may be there, the overall driving force doesn’t align with who I am.

When I set goals that are created from inspiration they allow me to:

  • Serve others in a positive way.

  • Pour caring energy into my work.

  • Grow personally and professionally.

  • Connect with others on a higher level.

These goals come to fruition clearly and quickly. The path always seems easier, even when the work is strenuous. Everything flows, feels right, and is in alignment with my purpose.

The next time there’s a spark of potential inspiration, I’ll stop and ask myself what the source is. Am I in a space of scarcity and desperation? Or am I truly inspired by an idea that aligns with how I want my business to thirve? Sorting through these thought processes will help avoid making choices that hinder personal and professional growth.

Sometimes all we need is a little change in perspective. If this resonates with you, I invite you to do the same!
