Taking A Break: Small Business Style

Typically when I ignore the need to slow down, the Universe hands me something that leaves me with no choice but to slow down. This time it was the health of my sweet baby Franklin. Four months of being home with him, caring for him, by myself… it was isolating and lonely, to say the least. Now we’re on the mend and things are returning to normal.

With that, and several other things I need not mention, life has been… a bit much lately. I took a few months off social media and literally did the bare minimum for my business because mentally that’s all I could handle.

Here’s what I learned.

  1. My business still thrived without me pouring endless, draining hours into it.

  2. A shift in perspective was needed and received (however begrudgingly).

  3. Sometimes life is just hard and you need to sit with it instead of having a “positive attitude” and pushing past your limits.

  4. When you’re depressed, normal things like showering can be really difficult, and that’s okay.

  5. I’m literally capable of handling everything life throws at me, I just need to feel through it first and take a break sometimes.

Everyone does things differently, so take what’s yours and leave the rest. The point is - your business will be okay if you need to take time for yourself. It will progress and thrive in new ways when you take the opportunity to slow down and welcome change.

Sending you all the vibes you need for the 2023 season! We’ve got this!
